Wastewater Treatment Plant
City of Oxford Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)
The City of Oxford Wastewater Treatment Plant operates under a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit issued by the EPA. WWTP staff handles operations, maintenance, and laboratory / process control activities. This staff is dedicated to keeping surface and ground water safe and protecting one of the earth’s most valuable resources. The WWTP treats about 2.25 million gallons of wastewater collected in over 65 miles of sewer pipe each day, protecting water quality and preventing water pollution, discharging the clean effluent water into the Four Mile Creek.
Things You Should Never Put Down the Drain
What we pour down the drain can cause issues in the long run for our household pipes and the WWTP. In turn, this could harm to water ecosystems and their inhabitants, also can be very costly to the home owner and the WWTP.
Items NEVER to put down the drain:
Fats, oils, grease, coffee grounds, car fluids, medications, feminine products, paint, cleaning products, wipes, even flushable wipes (most of these wipes do not break down.)
