Director of Law
The City of Oxford is seeking proposals for the position of Director of Law. The Director of Law advises the City on all matters pertaining to law and serves as counselor to the City Council, City Manager, and Department Heads on a wide variety of issues. The position requires attendance at City Council, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings. Requirements include a minimum of five years working with Ohio municipal corporations on a variety of local government legal matters. Candidates must be a member of the Ohio Bar Association and be in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court at the time of application. As the only attorney for the City, the Director of Law must be able to provide legal advice on a wide range of areas from land-use, to law enforcement, and new legislation. The Director of Law also approves all contracts to be entered into by the City.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and three work related references along with the proposal to the City Manager, City of Oxford, 15 South College Ave., Oxford, OH 45056. The proposal should include a monthly retainer amount for the legal services outlined above and an hourly rate to handle litigation for the City. Proposals may also include an hourly rate for all legal services provided. Information may be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
