Code Enforcement Officer

We are looking for qualified candidates for a Classified Service opening for a Code Enforcement Officer in the Community Development Department. The position, under the direction of the Community Development Director, is responsible for the enforcement of the codified ordinances of the City of Oxford primarily in the categories of residential rental and residential property maintenance. Also responsible for field inspection and enforcement of zoning ordinances.

The position requires being able to communicate effectively with the public to develop cooperative working relationships and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

A High school diploma or equivalent required; 3 years of experience providing code enforcement or inspection services in working directly with property owners, tenants and citizens; experience supporting a municipal planning, fire, police, or building department is preferred; or any combination of education, training, and work experience that provides the required skill sets to perform the essential functions of the job. Must also have the ability to obtain AACE or ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification within 3 months of employment; and ability to obtain AACE or ICC Code Enforcement Officer certification within 6 months of employment; and possession of a valid state driver’s license.

Annual salary range is $62,742 — $69,713 depending on experience, plus excellent benefit package.
