A program designed to provide law enforcement training and experience to youths in the community (aged 14 - 20) who are interested in pursuing a career within the criminal justice system. Each Public Safety Cadet will receive mentoring, classroom instruction, and hands on training throughout the length of the program.
Cadets will receive instruction in a variety of police topics, similar to what new police recruits learn during their training. These topics include:
- Traffic Stops
- Arrest/Search and Seizure
- Building Searches
- Police K9 Operations
- CPR and Emergency First Aid
- Crime Scene Investigation
- Hostage Negotiations
- Evidence Collection
- And more!
To introduce, educate and involve the youth of our community in all aspects of police operations, and to create an interest in and understanding of law enforcement. Our goal is to further promote and expand the partnership between the Police and Oxford Community.
