Take Home Vehicle Program
The Oxford Police Department implemented a Take Home Vehicle Program for police cruisers in 1997. The program was audited by the Ohio State Auditor’s Office in 2000 and found to be fiscally sound in its management and implementation.
Officers living within the City of Oxford and Oxford Township limits are assigned a cruiser and that cruiser is kept at the officer’s residence.
The Take Home Car Program extends the life of the car and reduces major mechanical maintenance. The program also encourages “ownership” and “pride” in the vehicle by the officer assigned.
