Fire & Emergency Medical Services
The City of Oxford Division of Fire was founded in 1833. It provides fire protection and emergency medical services (EMS) for the City of Oxford, including the campus of Miami University, and Oxford Township. It also provides EMS for the Village of College Corner, Ohio and for the western half of Milford Township.
The Fire Department moved in a new direction in 2008 adding part-time Firefighter/EMT members to the staff working 12-hour shifts, from 7am to 7pm. In January 2010, additional part-time night shifts were added. With this move, several Firefighter/Paramedics were hired. On February 25, 2010, the City of Oxford Fire Department began to providing Paramedic level service for the first time in its history.
Volunteers are still very important to the Fire Department’s operation. For opportunities to volunteer, contact us.
