The final step to get your business running is to schedule and perform the necessary inspections.
Step 1. Commercial Building Permit Inspection
If your new business required any construction or remodeling you most likely had to acquire a Building Permit. Permitted projects require inspections during and after construction.

According to Ohio Plumbing Code, all plumbing, water, and sewage systems must be inspected before the building can be occupied. All plumbing inspections are performed by the Butler County General Health District.
Step 3. Fire Inspection
All new businesses require a fire inspection prior to opening. In Oxford, the fire inspection is performed alongside the Building Permit Inspections detailed above. However, once your business is in operation the fire department will conduct annual, routine fire inspections.
If you need to be in contact with the Fire Department for a case-specific fire inspection, the Community Development Department will refer you.
Step 4. Environmental Public Health Inspections
If you plan to operate a food establishment, a salon, or a tattoo/body art establishment the Butler County General Health District may perform an initial inspection as well as periodic inspections. Check out the Environmental Health Division for more information.
