U.S. 27 South Status Update July 8, 2015
Progress on the project appears to have slowed down. Why?
ODOT stated that the weather is the main factor that has influenced the project’s progress. The Contractor’s work crew has been the same with the exception of the additional crew that was brought in for the bridge work only.
No other factors impacted the progress as of this date.
When will traffic be switched over?
At this time, it is projected that the traffic will be switched to the east permanent pavement on August 10th. The date is tentative, as it depends on the weather. Prior to the switch, the Contractor intends to have all the work on the east side of the roadway complete (i.e. curb, sidewalks, intersections, etc.).
When will Chestnut Street be closed?
Chestnut Street is scheduled to be closed on the date that traffic is switched to the east side of the roadway, August 10th, tentatively. With the current weather conditions, the closure, more than likely, will occur the week of August 17th. If that is the case, the Contractor will be asked to postpone the closure till after the start of Miami University classes.
What is the project completion date?
The project completion date is now July 11, 2016.
It should be noted that with the excessive rain events that have occurred this spring and early summer, the project completion date may be further extended.
However, the Contractor is intent of having all the project work completed prior to the winter shut down, with the exception of the asphalt surface course. If this is achieved, vehicular traffic will not be impeded during the winter shut down time.
