Learn about historic Oxford during May walking tours

As an annual celebration of National Historic Preservation Month, Oxford’s Historic and Architectural Preservation Commission, Smith Library of Regional History, and McGuffey House & Museum are sponsoring free walking tours each Saturday morning in May from 10:30 a.m. to around 12:00 p.m.

  • The May 6 walk will feature mid-century modern residential architecture in Springwood Subdivision. The tour will meet at 10:30 in front of 212 Oakhill Drive.
  • The May 13 walk will include 19th and 20th-century residences in the neighborhood of College Avenue and Collins Street. The tour will meet at 10:30 in the parking lot at 15 S. College Avenue.
  • The May 20 walk will include houses on Bishop and Church Streets and the families who lived in them. The tour will meet at 10:30 in front of 400 East Church Street.
  • The May 27 walk will feature traditional mid-20th century residential architecture. The tour will meet at 10:30 in the parking lot of Miami Inn Hall at 100 North Patterson Avenue.
