City Council Adopts New Vendors and Solicitors Regulations

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

At the September 20, 2016 meeting, City Council adopted new regulations for vendors and solicitors. The new regulations differentiate between commercial and noncommercial solicitation. Commercial solicitation focuses on the selling of merchandise and noncommercial solicitation deals with non-profit solicitation. Commercial solicitation requires registration of credentials with the Oxford Police Division and payment of a $50.00 fee. Also, the hours of any solicitation are limited from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Any resident who does not wish to be solicited may post a “No Solicitation” sign on the front door of the residence. These new regulations will become effective October 20, 2016.
