2014 ISO Fire Public Protection Summary Report
The Insurance Services Office, Inc. has completed an analysis of the structural fire suppression delivery system in the City of Oxford. According to the report, the City’s classification will be upgraded from a 5 to 4/4Y effective August 1, 2014. The last rating was completed in September of 2009 and was effective February 1, 2010. The City received a new split classification this time. The first number of the split classification applies to properties within five road miles of the responding fire station and 1000 feet of a credible water supply. The second number is the class that applies to properties within five road miles of the fire station but beyond 1000 feet of credible water supply. A community’s Public Protection Classification (PPC) depends on the emergency communication systems (10%), fire department (50%), and water supply system (40%). Compared to the last report, improved scores were received in emergency communications and fire department. This rating for 2014 places Oxford in the top 17.2% of the 49,010 communities rated in 2014.
