Community Oriented Policing Programs
The philosophy of the Oxford Police Department is Community Oriented Policing. OPD works with the community to create communication bridges, avenues for information-sharing, and pro-active, co-active policing to ensure the highest quality of life for our community.
OPD offers a variety of programming to share information, work toward educating the community on safety issues, and creating working partnerships among our officers and all members of Oxford.
Information is the basis of pro-active and co-active policing. In addition, toward this end, OPD created a brochure outlining the many programs and services offered to the Community. Is your group interested in offering a Women’s Self Defense presentation? We have the staff to do it. Is your neighborhood organizing a Block Watch program? We have the booklet to assist you in creating a solid networking group. Would your group like an inside peek of OPD? We will schedule a tour of our facility.
Community Oriented Policing entails so much more than answering calls for service. And it is our aim to ensure that the Oxford Community has access to the discussion forums, the programs, and the personnel to create strong, long lasting partnerships in Oxford, meeting residents’ and guests’ needs alike, thus creating a great community in which to work and live.
