Oxford Bicentennial

Ohio Arts Council
Thank you to the Ohio Arts Council for the grant support and building of the Bicentennial sculpture by local sculptor Jim McWilliams. The Bicentennial sculpture will be installed this June at the Oxford Community Park; official unveiling will be July 16, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.

Spring
- Howard Lecture—March 29, 2010
This year's annual meeting and Robert T. Howard Lecture will feature Valerie Elliott as she hosts us on "Historic Oxford…a Bicentennial Journey." The Annual Meeting will be held in the Commons Auditorium at the Knolls of Oxford and will begin with the traditional carry-in dinner at 6:00 p.m. Bring a casserole, salad or dessert along with table service. Meat and drinks will be provided. Following dinner, activities of the past year will be shared and new board members will be elected. It is anticipated that the Howard Lecture program will begin around 7:15 p.m. The gathering is open to both members and non-members.
- Kinetic Sculpture Race—April 24, 2010
- Historic Walking Tours – May 1, 2010 (& every Saturday during the month of May)
To raise public awareness about Preservation Month in May the HAPC, in conjunction with the Oxford Visitors and Convention Bureau, and Smith Library of Regional History, a series of guided walking tours will be held in the Uptown Oxford Historic District each weekend. A Council Member will accompany each tour. Starting Saturday, May 1, 2010 and every Saturday thereafter, during the month of May, tours will be provided between 1-2p.m. Tours will take approximately 35-45 minutes and will cover a different area of the Historic District each week. Anyone interested should meet at the Oxford Visitors and Convention Bureau located at 14 W. Park Place, Suite C.
Summer
- Wine Festival— 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., May 22, 2010—Uptown Parks
- Garden Tour – Des Fleurs – June 12-13, 2010 – Around Town
- Arts and Crafts Fair – June 12-13, 2010 – Pioneer Farm at Hueston Woods
The annual Arts and Crafts Fair will again be held on the grounds of the historic Pioneer Farm at Hueston Woods State Park where the 1836 Doty Homestead pays tribute to early settlers in the area and the 1840s Pioneer Barn is a testimonial to our agricultural heritage. This year the fair will feature an exhibit of artworks by area children in addition to approximately 80 craft vendors from the region.
- Township House Dedication – June 18, 2010 – Pioneer Farm at Hueston Woods
Right after the Arts and Crafts Fair, we will return to the Pioneer Farm to celebrate the completion of the restoration of the Oxford Township House. The Township House, which was relocated from uptown Oxford and moved to the Pioneer Farm site, began as a gun shop and then served as the meeting location for the Oxford Township Trustees for seventy years.

- Unveiling of Bicentennial Sculpture/Vintage Baseball – 6:30 p.m. - July 16, 2010 – Oxford Community Park. The unveiling will take place prior to the 7:00 vintage baseball game.
- Picnic at Pioneer Farm at Hueston Woods—July 17, 2010
Fall
- Miami Homecoming Football Game – October 23, 2010 - Yeager Stadium. Oxford Bicentennial Recognition during game.
- Local Ghost Stories—October 23, 2010—Community Arts Center
Winter
