Emergency Snow Route Information
A Snow Route is a street designated by an official sign that is to be kept open and clear of snow and/or ice for the safety of the public during any level of snow emergency.
The Oxford City Council has recently passed an ordinance modifying the City’s Snow Emergency Route criteria. Ordinance #3014 amends the language that there be no parking on Snow Routes “DURING ANY LEVEL OF SNOW EMERGENCY or when snow is 3” deep or greater.”
A snow emergency includes the accumulation of ice. Any vehicle left on a street that is a designated snow route during ANY level of snow emergency or when snow or ice is 3” deep or greater, is subject to citation, as well as removal and impounding by the Oxford Police Division.
