Approved Rental Units for Off-Campus HousingLooking for a place to call home while living in Oxford?
The attached pdf file will assist you in your search. It lists all permitted rental housing units in the off-campus area of the City of Oxford. The list also indicates the permitted occupancy, as well as, information regarding the owner and/or agent of each property.
Before signing a lease, it is wise to check the list to make sure the property you are interested in has a valid rental permit. If the property is not on the attached list, you’ll need to contact the City to verify that the property is a valid rental.
While searching for off-campus housing, you’ll need to consider the permitted occupancy for that dwelling unit. In accordance with the City’s Code, the maximum number of unrelated occupants per dwelling unit is four (4). However, based on the requirements for square footage of living space, the permitted occupancy could be less.
There are a few properties in the City that are permitted for more than four (4). In these cases, they are identified as lodging houses which are no longer permitted. The few that are permitted to rent to more than four (4), are grandfathered under a recorded housing agreement.
