2010 Fire Hydrant Flushing Schedule

The Oxford Water Distribution Division will begin its fire hydrant flushing and inspection program on July 19, 2010. When fire hydrants are flushed, the water may become cloudy or discolored. Cloudy water is caused by air trapped in the water during the flushing process and is harmless. The air bubbles can be removed by running cold water for a few minutes. Discolored water can be cleared the same way however, it may take a little longer for discolored water to become clear. Streets will be rescheduled if inclement weather prevents Water Distribution crews from flushing hydrants. Should you have any questions please feel free to call 524-5206 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
